Charles Evans said what I was thinking...

"It's pitiful down here. We need some help. I mean it's just pitiful." He said those words calmly but they screamed out at me. His words were loud and clear and true. Thank you Charles Evans. Thank you for speaking up and speaking the truth. What a clear sound your young voice made on that day when destruction, devastation, and chaos were so loud I could hardly breathe. You, Charles Evans, spoke sanity amid madness. Out of the mouths of babes...

The news coverage of Katrina touched the hearts

of Americans. Last night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann (MSNBC) I heard the 2nd cousin of a woman who was at the Superdome after Katrina hit say that. She was the woman at the Superdome whose child was "not waking up very easily" we all saw the clip of her on TV during the Katrina catastrophe. I think her name was LeeAnn and she said on camera during the clip something to the effect of, "this is not about rich people or poor people or race this is about PEOPLE. " The call to humanity resonated with me and with other Americans too. Many Americans heard her, really heard her but even before that we saw with our own eyes the lack of humanity that was there for nigh on five days or more while Brownie lied to Americans about the help that was on the way and while Chertoff DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR 36 HOURS! I still find that CRIMINAL, IMMORAL, and EVIL! I will say this, I am so grateful for the media coverage of Katrina. Journalists, camera crews, photographers...thank you for what you did, for being there, for showing us what we needed to know whether we wanted to see it or not. Thank you for your service. I will NEVER forget Katrina...will you?

"Bureaucracy has committed murder here, and

bureaucracy must stand trial." Aaron Broussard, President Jefferson Parish

Thank you Mr. Broussard for your candid and honest remark about the aftermath of Katrina. I see that plain as day. It was the lack of response from the team whose mantra was "we're the only ones that can keep you safe from any threat any time any where, the other guy will let you die" that killed American citizens in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. The fact that Brownie lied to Americans for 4+ days about help that was "on the way" the fact that Chertoff DID NOTHING for 36 hours AFTER KATRINA HIT the fact that the "President" DID NOTHING as well. I watched Bush not only fail to act like a leader but fail to act like a human. I saw him laughing and joking and smiling the whole damn time he actually bothered to tour for his photo ops. These people, in my opinion, are criminally negligent and morally bankrupt. They have American blood on their hands. Their inaction and incompetence MURDERED AMERICAN CITIZENS. You are so right Mr. Broussard, "bureaucracy has committed murder and bureaucracy must stand trial."

For America, A call of conscience

Lately the events happening here in America are a wake-up call for me. I mean, I have been awake since 2000 when the "High Court" stuck its nose someplace it didn't belong (Thanks John Roberts) and put this lying lunatic in office. Ever since then I have watched in horror as my country has deteriorated in many ways and is certainly on the decline under this evil regime. I have watched as Republicans continue to put partisan politics ahead of ethics, ahead of the Constitution, ahead of the interests of the American people they presume to represent. I have watched as these same Republicans use circular rhetoric to talk and talk and say nothing...they make no sense; their empty words are symbolic of the insanity that has seized our country. Fortunately, I am not a lone witness to this tragedy. I am now keenly aware that this is a call of conscience, of individual conscience and of collective American conscience. What will you do for your country? What will I do for America? Not this perverted America, but the America that Patriots fought and died for and that other Patriots created for us. What are we willing to do for America? Will we put our lives, our efforts, our will, our energy, our money, our time, our everything into taking our country back? Or will we continue down the same road, doing the same thing, the same way day after day when it is so obviously NOT WORKING. I say, we must DO what it takes. We must be vigilant. We must answer this call of conscience with a resounding willingness to restore America to what it was meant to be. We can do better. Our conscience calls us to do better. Will we hear the call? Will we heed it?

I WILL NOT WAIT FOR THREE MORE YEARS

I do not intend to sit by and allow my country to be destroyed by this administration who is actively working to destroy our Constitution and our way of life. This evil regime that lied to the American people and to Congress (a felony and an impeachable offense). Those in this administration are the terrorists. I am sick of being terrorized by my own "Government." I WILL NOT wait for three more years. I WILL NOT wait and see. I WILL NOT wait for 2006 or 2008 because the "elections" are not auditable and they are not transparent...which means that they are not DEMOCRATIC which means that America, the model of Democracy is a joke. I love my country. I am a patriot. Still, the truth hurts; when the truth is that the elections are rigged and the Dept. of Homeland Security is aware of the "backdoor" in the electronic voting and does nothing...well, you have no Democracy. I want my country back. Many of us want it back. There is a way to force your Representatives to represent you by supporting the impeachment of Bush and his regime. See for yourself at www.recallthecongress.com
or you can visit www.votetoimpeach.org where 607,829 people have already signed on to support impeachment. The most important thing you can do though is to BELIEVE that it can be done. This is crucial. All this talk about it will never happen with the Republican Congress, blah, blah, blah - all that is necessary is for some people to change their minds - that is not impossible or even unlikely given the current state of affairs. The "culture of corruption" is being exposed and prosecuted. Politicians are all for saving their own hides first. Once the corruption expands to enough people...well, I will be watching. The second crucial thing you can do is to STAY INFORMED by seeking the accurate information that you need to fight for your country. Don't let the main stream corporate media spoon feed you the disinformation they want you to have. Educate yourself; knowledge is power.

"A Moral Moment" after Katrina Gore's Leadership

"...When the corpses of American citizens are floating in toxic floodwaters five days after a hurricane strikes, it is time not only to respond directly to the victims of the catastrophe but to hold the processes of our nation accountable, and the leaders of our nation accountable, for the failures that have taken place. ..I would urge you to make this a moral moment, to make this a moral cause..." Al Gore 9/9/05

In the speech that President Gore made that day he also used the Biblical verse, "where there is no vision the people perish." How true and how obvious it was immediately following Katrina. Thank you President Gore for the vision which you laid out in your speech to the 2005 Sierra Summit ( see www.algore-08.com for transcript). If only you were in the White House instead of that failure we have there now. You were the last President that was actually elected by the people of the United States. The 2004 "election" was even worse than the 2000 sham when the "High Court" got involved where it didn't belong and ruined America, not to mention its reputation with Americans. The public is still angry about that partisan spectacle. I digress though from honoring your call for "a moral moment" in America. You are right; it is unacceptable the way our dead have been disrespected by this administration. It is criminal the way the "weakest among us" were left to die and/or suffer for days while our Federal Government DID NOTHING! Where is our morality? Where is the morality of the "moral values" party? I don't know about the former, but as to the latter...THERE IS NONE! Anyone who stands with Bush, Brownie, Chertoff, and the rest of them after Katrina has NO MORALITY! Any decent human being, any moral person, any Christian can plainly see that Katrina was the last straw. Katrina revealed to all of us the priorities of the greedy, the corrupt, the hypocritical, the modern day Pharisees. It is pointless to defend the INDEFENSIBLE and excuse the INEXCUSABLE! You cannot have it both ways; you are either on the right side or the wrong side. Jesus Christ said it, "when you do it unto the least of these you do it unto me." Morality demands that you condemn this colossal failure of the Federal Government to step up to the plate and take care of its citizens in their time of need. You know it and I know it.

Chertoff waited 36 hours on purpose to do anything

So now the memos are coming out. Chertoff was at some avian flu meeting and doing some other equally pressing things in the midst of the Katrina crisis. Hey, I love birds...cardinals are my favorite, but I think Mr. Chertoff should go to jail for failing to meet the needs of American citizens. I think that his behavior was criminally negligent - just like others that he worked with and for. I am appalled at the lackadaisical approach this administration had to this crisis. To add insult to injury their ARROGANCE smacks every caring American in the face. They are now trying to excuse the INEXCUSABLE! I should hope that we decent Americans WILL NOT ALLOW that. It is up to us to hold these people ACCOUNTABLE. So, take their money if they actually give you any but don't buy into their bullshit. They lie, they always lie, they lie about everything and especially the most important things. Watch their actions not their talk. In the meantime, tell everyone you know, particularly the media to FIRE MICHAEL CHERTOFF for his CRUELTY and CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE!

Duct Tape Man, replaces Brown as head of FEMA

Duct tape man, for real? Is that the best this administration can come up with? They never cease to amaze me with their crummy choices. Duct tape man, hmm. He's the one they had before; he told us to stock up on duct tape and plastic wrap in case of a "nukular" attack or some biological attack. Yeah, right. I got nothin' against duct tape. It's very useful for many things but pardon me if I don't buy into this crap that it's going to save me and my family in a disaster. The stupidity of this administration is incredible. Actually, I am beginning to think that they are not interested in our being saved or even in our general welfare...so much for the Constitution eh. Duct tape man, I wonder if he has an arch enemy... aqua man maybe?

Americans are in a dangerous slumber, wake up

Americans are in a dangerous slumber and they have been for quite some time. True, some are waking up, thank the Lord. Still, many are sleepwalking through the motions of their days and nights. They believe that they must go on with life the way it is even though they are not happy or satisfied. They keep on keeping on and in so doing they keep doing the same thing over and over expecting things to get better...and they aren't. There is this idea that if I just wait until the next election or until next year or until ________ fill in the blank then things will be better. HOGWASH! Things will be better when we take our power back and make some badly needed changes in the course of our history. This is not someone else's responsibility; it is ours, all of us who think that this world is bad and getting worse. We must restore sanity to our Government immediately. We must force it if we have to, with non-violent force but force nonetheless. Americans have shirked their political responsibilities for FAR TOO LONG! Now, we reap the result of this apathy and this complacency. Not all of us have been asleep. Those who are aware now are having constant nightmares about this administration. Wake-up Americans! How bad must it get? What does it take for you to say that you have had enough? If nothing changes, nothing changes...do you really want more of what you are getting? NOT ME, I've had enough.

I no longer trust my Government to protect me.

It's official. I have suspected it for quite some time. In fact, for the last four years I have doubted that this administration, the team whose mantra was "we are the only ones who can keep you safe anytime, anywhere, from anything" would be able to keep me safe and now I know it for sure. Hurricane Katrina, a disaster which came with a warning (many warnings in fact, depending on when you start counting) illustrated the incompetence and malfeasance of this administration. I watched them drop food, water and pamphlets half way around the world when it was beneficial to their interests, their agenda. How could it take them more than four days to find New Orleans? It didn't. They didn't care. That was obvious. I was in more distress about the situation than Bush and his people were. How pathetic is that? No, now I know if something happens I am on my own. I am not yet in the right tax bracket for emergency assistance. Bush and this administration would let my mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, sister, brother, spouse, lover even my babies would die on the street before they would lift a finger to help. It's all crystal clear to me now.

"O" is for humanity. Thank you Oprah Winfrey.

It was one week after Hurricane Katrina hit and it was the first humanity that I saw there in New Orleans and in Mississippi. Oprah (Thank God for Oprah) and her Angel Network Team went to the Gulf Coast region and did the work of the Divine. They were incredible. For the first time in a week my tears of horror and pain were, for awhile, tears of joy at the good deeds Oprah and her friends were doing. This was the first sign of humanity I saw there. Although, I do recall some of the journalists doing good deeds there too. So, a big shout out to all of the people who were there to help and to love the victims of Hurricane Katrina who were abandoned by their Federal Government but were remembered by these kind, generous people.

Katrina Victims: Charity is good, Rights are better!

To the victims of Hurricane Katrina I say this, "charity is good, rights are better." I didn't come up with the phrase, I read it at www.blackcommentator.com and I hope you will visit the site too. There is alot of talk since Katrina about a "New New Orleans" just between you and me and the rock, I don't want a homogenized New Orleans where greedy Developers create some ridiculous version of a Louisiana boardwalk or a city where thousands of African-Americans, the poor, or other minorities are excluded from the recreation of New Orleans; a city rich in culture, in music, in diversity and history. I don't want a New Orleans for the RICH ONLY. I want my New Orleans back. See, when you send thousands of American citizens (NOT REFUGEES) out of Louisiana to scatter them around the country you radically alter the nature of the state, especially the city of New Orleans, and you radically alter the POLITICAL LANDSCAPE too. I think we must be vigilant not to allow such a tricky, dirty pool stunt from those that would like to see a "New New Orleans." American citizens have RIGHTS! Charity is good, rights are better. Let's see to it that we WATCH what goes on there now. Let's be certain that we are awake and aware, our eyes are open and we are not gullible or naive to the foulness at hand. Let's see to it that the victims of Hurricane Katrina have RIGHTS and that these rights are looked after. Next time, it could be your rights, your property or mine.

"Compassionate Conservatives"/ "Christian Right"

How do you rationalize and justify the fact that it took the Federal Government, the team whose mantra was, "we are the only ones who can keep you safe here at home no matter what the threat" over four days to respond to the dire needs of American citizens here in our country? Furthermore, how do you rationalize and justify that many of them died needlessly from lack of water? These people were the "least among us" and you do remember what Jesus said about them, right? I think it was something like this - "Whatever you do unto the least of these, you do it unto me." So, to those of you that are saying the response was "adequate" or who are blaming the victims, or defending the indefensible, how exactly do you rationalize and justify that? Careful, your Jesus is watching.

We the People will defeat the evildoers.

There is a song by Supaclean called "Oil Change" and I love it. It starts out like this:
"We the people will defeat the evildoers. Can I speak my mind about this administration a paranoid, flag-wavin' boil on the nation. Creation of a new kind of sensation, hypocrite, dictators man I lost my patience." It gets even better. Thank you Supaclean.

I think this is the hope for America. Which after the recent DC rally is really uplifting. Some say there were 100,000 Americans there protesting the War in Iraq. Others say the numbers were more like 300,000 or even 500,000. I don't know the exact count. I think 300,000 is a fair estimate. It looked like a reasonable figure from the photos I saw. Perhaps there were more, but it doesn't really matter - the specifics I mean - because there were tons of people there. That means that "We the people" are only growing in numbers in our resistance to this evil regime with its "culture of corruption." That brings me great joy and much hope. Does it bring the same to you? I think we can take our country back. I think tons of us want it back now. I think there are millions of Americans who have their eyes wide open and can see that this is NOT America; NOT the America that we love, NOT the American that people before us fought and died for. We can do better. We are going in the wrong direction under this administration. It is obvious to most of us, even to the MAJORITY of us now. That is a wonderful thing. We the people will defeat the evildoers.

"I cant watch it." Americans turn a blind eye.

"...Take a look at you and me, are we too blind to see, or do we simply turn our heads and look the other way..."
In the Ghetto
Elvis Presley

I hope and pray that Americans will find the conscience and the courage to continue to focus on this tragedy in the Gulf Coast region. Please don't let us turn away from boredom or powerlessness or an inability to watch the horrible suffering and destruction of the area. I am not usually into gore or horror, and I am not into it now but I believe it is very important for us to see, to really see what has happened their and what is still happening. It is important that we stay keenly aware of the circumstances. Please don't turn away, don't go shopping or whatever else you do (I do) just focus on this issue because it is extremely important. It is not only important because we need to help those affected by it, or to reunite the missing children with their families, or worse, the bodies of Americans who lost their lives with their loved ones...it is important that we stay awake and aware to the decisions being made in that area because they will affect us all. So, my fellow Americans I ask you to please continue to tune in to this tragic story though it is difficult it is necessary that we grow up and SEE the reality around us. And, please consider writing to the media to thank them for their continued dedication to this issue.

Using the "I" word...Impeachment.

Thank you Ms. McKinney for using the "I" word – IMPEACHMENT! I want Bush impeached. In my opinion, this is the 64 million dollar question? This Government of ours can try to impeach a President who has a great economy going, he’s keeping us safe, he’s working for the majority of the people, he IS competent and intelligent, fast on his feet in times of need, and can actually, as President, hold a conversation (including receiving questions from OPPONENTS and answering them) because of a personal matter like a sexual indiscretion? Oh, no wait, the deal was that Clinton lied. Hmm. NOONE DIED WHEN CLINTON LIED! However, when Bush lies about matters like, for instance, going to war or when he fails us in such a colossal and public way (which is apparently obvious to everyone but Bush and those working for him) he is not to be removed from office? That said, if that turns out to be true, then our Federal Government has ceased to function. I mean some of us have doubted for some time that this administration was functional but it will be so incredibly, blatantly obvious to everyone that it is no longer working. I am outraged. I watched all last week as Bush failed not only to act like a President but to act like a human being. I saw him laughing, smiling, joking about drinking too much, patting people on the back for “doing a heck of a job.” WHAT? I DID NOT see was any sense of urgency in his actions; in fact, I saw no action. I saw no concern. I saw no “Compassion” from that “Conservative.” I saw no angst! I was more disturbed than the Bush was. Then, I hear that he asked Nancy Pelosi, “what didn’t go right?” That is shocking and frightening to me. I have a whole list of what didn’t go right. Nancy Pelosi is correct in saying that Bush is DANGEROUS. Furthermore, in my opinion, the Federal Government is criminally negligent for failing to 1) secure the safety of American people in distress; and 2) not following the law, the one they themselves put in place. The way I see it, Bush has blood on his hands and anyone who stands with him does too. Americans died from lack of water and medical care while others suffered in the chaos that ensued and NONE of it was necessary. God help anyone who can call that man-made disaster of a response “adequate.” Not to mention that now, as the fourth anniversary of 9-11 approaches, the administration who has bragged for years that they are the “only ones who can keep us safe here at home from any threat any time any where” FAILED! GOP Party loyalty seems loyal unto death, not their own deaths mind you, but the deaths of innocent others. IT IS INEXCUSEABLE!

John Roberts why did you steal my vote in 2000?

This is my question for John Roberts. Why did you enable the Supreme Court to usurp our Democracy in 2000? Why did you lay out the plan for the court on how to do this? Why did you steal my vote and the votes of millions of others? These are my questions for John Roberts. If you see him, could you please ask him for me? Thanks.

GOP Party Loyalty is loyal even unto Death...

GOP Party Loyalty is loyal even unto DEATH, not their own deaths mind you but the deaths of innocent Americans and other people around the world; perhaps even loyal unto the DEATH of our democracy and our country. This has been increasingly evident to me but recently it was quite blatant. This week there was a resolution for an INDEPENDENT investigation into the failures of the Federal Government to respond to Hurricane Katrina. There were two other resolutions as well, one dealing with the Downing Street Memo. Even though polls indicate that at least 75% of the American people want an INDEPENDENT investigation the Republicans after grandstanding and accusing Democrats of playing partisan politics rejected all three right down party lines. I listened to the entire process, believe me, the Republicans were the party people. Makes me wonder, WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?

A Representative Government ? Really?

Recently I sent a letter to my "Representative" in Congress, John Culberson. Just between you and I Mr. Culberson has long since ceased to represent me choosing instead to represent big business, corporate greed and religious extremists. The same goes for my two Senators from Texas, Mr. Cornyn and Ms. Hutchison. For quite some time now I have been trying to inform them of the issues which are important to me. I write them and I get these curt form letters back that don't even address my initial purpose of writing them. So after this goes on for awhile, I begin to ask myself, what happens to my American Government when my "Representatives" no longer represent me?

Revolutionary Beliefs

"...The world is very different now...and yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forefathers fought are still at issue around the globe - the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans..."

Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961
